Celia Holtzer scholarship holder Saeed Asisch (*1984) presents the results of his scholarship in the foyer of the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau.

In the ‘KlangForm’ project, Saeed Asisch explores sound bodies, which he realises in portable objects. Asisch's intention is to rethink the boundaries between jewellery, technology and sound and to explore jewellery not only as an adornment, but also as a user surface, tool and resonating body. The objects designed by Saeed Asisch made of silver, brass and precious stones are equipped with acoustics. By reacting to touch or movement, they generate sounds that can be fed into digital sound systems via pickups.

Saeed Asisch was awarded the Celia Holtzer Scholarship in 2024 for his ‘KlangForm’ project. The Celia Holtzer Scholarship is awarded annually by the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst e.V. to two talented graduates of the Staatliche Zeichenakademie Hanau in memory of Celia Holtzer (1957-2003), who was herself a student there in 1989. The scholarship was endowed in her memory by her parents Jeanne Sybill Wallman Holtzer and Dr Howard Holtzer.

An artist talk with Saeed Asisch will take place on Thursday, 22 May 2025 at 19:00 at the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau. This will provide an opportunity to talk to the scholarship holder in person over a refreshing drink and find out more about the background to his project.
